Interesting!

There's a meditation method I like to use before writing, in which you "count down to alpha". A state of mind halfway between being fully awake and asleep, when dreaming and daydreaming occur. That also seems to silence most of my perfectionism and fear, for a time..

I love it when "automatic writing" pop ups while struggling with the sentences. Suddenly a story takes its own course and you as a writer can only "watch" and record what's happening. Afterwards I've got to go search for the "why" and the meaning behind it, which taps right into the core of "why am I writing this exactly?".

Meanwhile, poetry:

We Who Are Your Closest Friends
by Phillip Lopate

We who are
your closest friends
feel the time
has come to tell you
that every Thursday
we have been meeting,
as a group,
to devise ways
to keep you
in perpetual uncertainty
frustration
discontent and
torture
by neither loving you
as much as you want
nor cutting you adrift.
Your analyst is
in on it,
plus your boyfriend
and your ex-husband;
and we have pledged
to disappoint you
as long as you need us.
In announcing our
association
we realize we have
placed in your hands
a possible antidote
against uncertainty
indeed against ourselves.
But since our Thursday nights
have brought us
to a community
of purpose
rare in itself
with you as
the natural center,
we feel hopeful you
will continue to make unreasonable
demands for affection
if not as a consequence
of your disastrous personality
then for the good of the collective.

after re-reading this whole thread, the only thing I can say is

where is the phorum poetry now?
where are those discussions about literature?
and finally
WHERE ARE YOU PEOPLE? I haven't seen Jo here in AGES!

Good point. I'm not writing any poetry at the moment, but there are some short stories in the making I might share.
And Jo's getting published and not sharing anything with us! Shame on Jo! ;)

I'm no longer posting poems because I'm planning a probably self-published (Lulu, or Amazon.com) collection, so I'm keeping the stuff under wraps until I've had a chance to do some serious compilation and editing.
